Bridges

A dental bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth is in between them. The bridge will restore your bite and helps keep the natural shape of your face.

Why Do You Need A Bridge Procedure?

When you lose a tooth, it can cause your teeth to begin shifting, the nearby teeth may tilt or drift into the empty space or your teeth on the opposite jaw may also shift up or down into the space. This can affect your bite and place more stress on your teeth and jaw joints, possibly causing pain and damage.

Teeth that have tipped or drifted are also harder to clean, this can put you at a higher risk for tooth decay and gum disease. Also, when a tooth is missing, the bone may shrink causing your face to appear older.

Dental Bridge Expectations

  • First, your dentist prepares the teeth on both sides of the gap.
  • Then they will take a mold impression of your teeth and the space and send it to the lab to have your bridge made.
  • You will get a temporary bridge to protect your prepared teeth while you are waiting for the permanent bridge.
  • When the permanent bridge is ready, Dr. Ejtemai will permanently cement the bridge to the prepared teeth.
